With the colder weather approaching, now is the time to inspect your heating system, as you will have to rely on its reliability in the coming days. Here are some signs that will determine when to upgrade your heating system.

1. Frequent Repairs

Is your heating system always in need of repair? If so, then it might be more cost-effective if you just upgrade than to continue doing repairs. Whilst the initial cost of a new heater may be a bit overwhelming, this could nonetheless save you money in the long run. Having a new heating system can ensure you will have years of use without incurring costly repairs.

2. Uneven Temperatures

Heating systems lose their ability to distribute heat effectively over time. If you’ve been turning the heater up but can’t stay warm enough, check if the thermostat is programmed correctly or if there’s a build-up of dirt and dust in its filters. If the heating system still gives uneven temperature after a check-up, it might be time to upgrade your heating system to a modern model.

3. Odd Noises and Smells

You’re probably used to hearing noise whenever you turn your heater on. However, if the heating system makes continuous odd sounds like banging, rattling or squealing, it could mean that your system is on its last legs. You must also take immediate action if you notice a burning smell that doesn’t quickly subside whenever your heater is on.

If your home’s heating system displays any of these red flags, you should consider upgrading to a more modern system. Do not wait until your current heating system breaks down before you take action.
